Atlanta Braves, Tampa Bay Rays battle for MLB’s best record on the road
Atlanta – The Atlanta Braves have been the best team in baseball since their move to Atlanta and their best record in the road division.
With six home games remaining and five in the second half, they are now just two games behind the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Chicago Cubs for the best record.
The Braves are still battling for the American League East lead and will face the Tampa Rays in Game 3 of their second-round series on Wednesday (local time).
While the team is still battling to be the best in the division, it appears that the best shot at the NL Central and the World Series is not to make the playoffs.
The Atlanta Braves are not playing in a playoff gameThe Braves lost three of their first four games of the regular season, and have not won more than four in a season since 2010.
They are currently just one game behind the New York Mets and the Washington Nationals for the second wild card spot in the NL, and would need to beat the Mets to win the NL East.
The NL East is currently a tiebreaker, so if the Braves lost a series to a team they beat in the regular-season, they would lose a tiebreak and go to the postseason.
The first round of the postseason is set for Thursday.
The Braves currently have the second-worst record in baseball with a .521 winning percentage in the first half, and a record of 30-57.
The team is tied for second-last in the AL in winning percentage and third-worst in home winning percentage.
They have scored just two runs in the 10 innings they have played thus far this season, both in the ninth inning.
