China stocks rebound after Xi’s speech
China’s stock market has rallied after President Xi Jinping spoke at a Beijing conference on economic growth and reform, setting off a rally in stocks on Thursday.
The Shanghai Composite index rose as much as 4 percent to 6,621.85 points, while the Hang Seng index rose 3.6 percent to 7,931.13 points.
The S&P 500 index of companies in the S&p 500 index closed up 2.1 percent.
The dollar fell to 79.33 yuan from 80.89 yuan.
