NFL playoff bracket preview: First-round picks, NFC title game, playoff picture
The first-round draft picks have become the new standard for college football teams and fans alike.
Here’s a look at the top 10 rookies who are looking to get drafted ahead of next week’s NFL playoff round.
(Thomas Johnson/The Washington Post) The first round is officially over, and the NFL is already underway with its most prestigious draft since its inception in 1946.
There are a lot of things to talk about this year.
First-year NFL teams have the best draft class since 2006, and we’re still learning all of the moves they made in free agency, the draft and the trades.
Here’s a quick primer on the NFL draft.
The NFL Draft is over, but there’s still plenty of college football to discuss, with some teams getting off to hot starts in the first round, others having to adjust, and some teams that are still figuring things out.
Here are some of the biggest storylines this year:• The first NFL playoff pick in years has been the No. 1 overall pick, which will be determined by the teams’ records in the college football playoff.•The first overall pick will be selected by the Minnesota Vikings.•Duke quarterback Mitch Trubisky, a 6-foot-3, 205-pounder from Clemson, has a chance to be the No 1 overall selection.
The Vikings selected Trubiskis No. 2 overall pick in April.•Baylor offensive tackle Jonathan Allen, a former Ohio State linebacker, has the No 3 pick.
Allen is a 6‑foot-5, 315‑pounder who played in the NFL in 2016.
He also played in four games for the Browns in 2017, which is the last time he played for the team.•Ohio State offensive lineman Taylor Decker, a six-foot‑seven, 350‑pound offensive lineman from Florida State, has been projected as the No 2 pick in the 2017 draft.
Decker is a four-star recruit from Columbus, Ohio, and has had a lot to prove after a poor junior season.
Decker has been in the running for national player of the year.•A few teams have been locked in with a quarterback, but most of them aren’t expected to land a franchise quarterback.•Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts, who was ranked No. 6 overall by ESPN.com, is the only quarterback who has a solid chance to get picked ahead of this week’s draft.
Hurts is expected to be chosen in the third round, which means he’ll be in line for a lot more attention than any other quarterback in the draft.•Michigan wide receiver Jalen Davis, a four‑star prospect who played for former Michigan coach Brady Hoke at Ohio State, is a projected No. 3 overall pick.
Davis had a strong junior season in 2017.•Washington defensive tackle Adolphus Washington, a three-star prospect, has emerged as one of the top defensive tackles in the country.
Washington was ranked by 247Sports as the top prospect in the nation by the end of the season.•Tennessee quarterback Jacoby Brissett, a fourth-year senior, is ranked as the third-best quarterback in this year’s draft by 247 Sports.
Brisset was ranked as a top-10 prospect by ESPN by the time he entered the draft, but was one of two quarterbacks (Sam Darnold of Notre Dame and Sam Darnoofs of Oregon) selected in the fifth round.
Brissett was expected to play for Tennessee in 2019, but has since turned down the offer.
He’s still ranked as one the top quarterbacks in the state.
The 2017 NFL draft was not the first time quarterbacks were considered to be a first-rounder.
But the talent level for the position was different this year than in years past.
The draft class includes a number of highly-ranked quarterbacks and receivers, including top-five picks in Christian Hackenberg of Michigan and Bryce Petty of Baylor, who is expected in the top five of the 2017 NFL Draft.

(Patrick Semansky/Associated Press)For many teams, the quarterback position is a priority, and it’s also a huge challenge for coaches and general managers.
The biggest issue for NFL coaches this year was the depth at the position, with only three quarterbacks projected to be in the final year of their contracts, according to ESPN.
This was a big problem last year, when some teams struggled to find a quarterback to build around.
The top quarterback on this list is the top quarterback prospect on this board.
The quarterbacks selected in last week’s first round are all projected to get their names called, with the top two QBs projected to go first overall in next week.
The first two quarterbacks are expected to get the first two picks in the second round, and then the third quarterback is
