Walmart to open 7,500 more stores in 2017
Walmart is opening 7,400 new stores across the US in 2017, according to the company’s website.
Walmart has already opened 7,700 stores in 2016, making it the biggest store chain in the country.
This year, the company plans to open up to 7,600 more stores, with the goal of doubling the number of stores over the next three years.
Walmart plans to invest $1.7 billion in its U.S. operations this year.
The company also announced it will open 3,500 new stores in the United Kingdom this year, bringing the total to 4,000 stores in 2019.
The plans are for an additional 4,600 stores across Europe.
WalMart is not only investing in its global operations, it is also building a new distribution center in the U.K. which will house a new store for the global marketplace.
Walmart also announced plans to expand its distribution centers in Mexico, China, India, South Africa and Vietnam.
